The project
Madonne Elettriche is born as a photographic reportage by Barbara Zilli
exploring the relationship between Apulia and Catholicism.
The sacred icons are omnipresent in every space and area of everyday life:
from internal interiors to external architectures, from the Rosary hanging from the rearview mirror in the car to the calendar of the Saint hanging in the kitchen.
The ritual of the processions remained unchanged over time as well as the undaunted waiting for the Patron saint’s feast.
The vision to create contemporary sacred statues illuminated
by electric holy wires and LEDs: Madonne Elettriche.
